Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation

The Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation formed in 2010, was born from a vision to make Barbados “The #1 Entrepreneurial Hub In The World”. Led by Peter Boos, Chairman Emeritus of Ernst & Young Caribbean, and a group of local and international entrepreneurs called the “E-Team”, the goal of the Foundation is to support the critical foundations of developing businesses. The focus of the Foundation is Growing Sustainable Entrepreneurship through advancing the key Foundation Pillars of: Finance, Government Policy, Education and Skills, Mentorship and Business Facilitation.
For each of the Foundation Pillars global best practices will be researched to progress the industry to world class standards. These best practices would become the benchmarks against which progress towards the 2020 vision is measured.

The Inaugural Entrepreneurship Conference, November 16 and 17, 2010 is the Foundation’s first move towards achieving its vision. The event features international and local experts facilitating different aspects of the foundational pillars needed to develop sustainable entrepreneurship in Barbados.

Success for the Foundation will entail:

  • Barbados generating more capital per head of any country in the world.
  • Barbados being the “go to” hub for entrepreneurs offering the highest levels of business support and networking.
  • A ‘Gold Standard’ level of support provided to entrepreneurs in all five Foundation Pillars.
  • Hosting the Annual Barbados Entrepreneurial Foundation Conference and Awards, which is viewed as a ‘must attend’ business networking event (considered in a similar vein as Davos, Switzerland).
  • Entrepreneurship contributing a significant portion of the nation’s GDP.
  • Barbados recognized as a premier source of business talent.
  • Barbados listed as a preferred country to conduct business in reports such as the World Bank’s Doing Business.
  • The Foundation’s Model of ‘Growing Sustainable Entrepreneurship’ extended across the world.
  • Entrepreneurs who think outwardly to international horizons.
